What happened here
From January to March 1946 Kazimieraitis lived in Vanagas’s hideout at the Jakavonis farmstead in Kasčiūnai. The liaison was Juozas Jakavonis-Tigras (Juozukas). The partisan newspaper “Laisvės varpas” was published here. The Kasčiūnai tailor Juozas Pačkauskas made him trousers with a special straight pocket for his gun.
From here, in mid-January, he set off for Kaunas. On 19 January he saw his son Vytautas for the last time: riding in a cart, the father sang the partisan anthem and handed it to him written down with the notes.
